Educational qualification: Be/B.Tech. Or equivalent in electrical, electronics and communication, electrical and electronics, or mechanical engineering from a recognized university or institute.
Experience: Minimum 25 years experience in the power sector with specialization in design, construction, operation and maintenance of generating stations. Of this, at least 5 years should be in the utility of one generation and 2 years in CGM/Chief Engineer/Executive Director level or equivalent.

- The appointment is up to the age of two years or 60 years, whichever is earlier.
- The minimum term is one year, with one year expansion based on the performance.

- Functional Pay Level -20: With 3% annual growth or amended by the government as ₹ 1,82,200 to ₹ 2,24,100.
- For retired officers: Pay the last drawn salary as per minus pension.
