JMI PhD Selection Process

The selection process for JMI PhD Admission 2025-26 consists of multiple stages to ensure transparency and merit-based admission.

1. Entrance Exam

  • Conducted by the Controller of Examinations, the entrance examination will serve as a qualifying examination for non-exempt candidates.
  • It consists of two papers i.e. Paper I (Research Methodology, 100 objective questions, 2 hours) and Paper II (subject-specific, 3 hours).
  • Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks in aggregate in both the papers to qualify for interview.

2. Exemption from entrance examination

Candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR-NET/JRF, AYUSH-NET, GATE, or other equivalent national level examination are exempted from the entrance examination. However, they will have to appear for the interview conducted by the respective departments.

3. Interview and Research Proposal

  • Shortlisted candidates (including exempted candidates) will be invited for interview between 10 and 19 December 2025.
  • During the interview, applicants will present their research proposal, demonstrate their research abilities, and discuss potential areas of study.
  • To qualify, candidates must score a minimum of 40% marks in the interview.

4. Final Selection
