KARTET Recruitment Eligibility Criteria 2025 outlines the educational qualifications and minimum marks required for candidates aspiring to become teachers in primary and upper primary schools of Karnataka. This ensures that only eligible persons are eligible to appear for Paper I or Paper II. Reserved category candidates also get relaxation in marks as per government norms.
Educational qualification
For Paper I (teaching classes 1-5):
Candidates must satisfy any one of the following educational qualifications:
- Passed PUC or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks and have completed or currently pursuing 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
- Obtained 50% marks in PUC or equivalent and have completed or are completing 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.Ed.).
- Having obtained 50% marks in Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 2 years Diploma in Special Education.
- Graduates with minimum 50% marks who have completed or are completing D.El.Ed or B.Ed are also eligible.
For Paper II (Teaching Class 6-8):
Applicants must satisfy any of the following conditions:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks and D.El.Ed or B.Ed qualification.
- Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with 50% marks and 4 years B.El.Ed degree.
- Bachelor’s degree with 50% marks and B.Ed in Special Education.
As per government norms, candidates belonging to reserved categories are given a relaxation of 5% in the minimum qualifying marks.
