Life of Assistant Engineer after clearing UPPSC AE-Duty
UPPSC AE is a Group B Gazetted Officer under the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Assistant Engineer may get the opportunity to serve as Executive Engineer i.e. Group A Gazetted Officer depending on their performance, seniority and vacancy. The major duties of UPPSC AE are shown in the points given below:
- The Assistant Engineer is required to manage the work i.e. water supply schemes, irrigation schemes and projects etc. within his sub-division.
- The AE is required to analyze the project rigorously before starting it so that quality work can be done.
- Assistant Engineer passes the bills of contractors.
- The Assistant Engineer is required to control the expenditure and communicate necessary details to the Executive Engineer.
- UPPSC AEs need to maintain proper records of their juniors and assign work as per their expertise.
- Along with these duties, many administrative duties are performed by AEs like zonal magistrate, district administration in board examinations, VIP duties etc.
- In some departments, site visits are also part of the job of an Assistant Engineer.
