SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2025
In the major changes in the SBI PO 2025 exam pattern, the number of questions has been increased in some sections, while others have seen a reduction. Similarly, in the main examination, the number of questions has been adjusted in some areas, and the time limit has also been revised. SBI PO Main Exam Pattern 2025
SBI PO Mains is the second stage of the exam, which consists of an objective exam and a descriptive exam. The objective test consists of 170 questions from sections such as English Language, Data Analysis and Interpretation, Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude, and General/Economics/Banking Awareness, carrying 200 marks with a time limit of 180 minutes. Negative marking is applicable, 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. After the objective test, candidates will have to complete a descriptive test on communication skills (email, report, situation analysis and accurate writing) which is worth 50 marks and must be completed in 30 minutes.
- The main examination will be conducted online and will consist of objective test for 200 marks and descriptive test for 50 marks.
- It will have four sections and a descriptive section.
- SBI PO Mains Descriptive Test 2025 is evaluated Communication skills, including tasks such as writing emails, reports, situation analysis, and accurate writing. This section is of total 50 marks and candidates have to complete it within 30 minutes.
- A penalty will be imposed for each wrong answer marked by the candidate. For each question which is answered incorrectly by the candidate, 1/4th mark will be deducted as penalty from the marks assigned to that question to obtain the correct marks.
- If a question is left blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by the candidate, no penalty will be given for that question.

SBI PO Mains Descriptive Test 2025 focuses on communication skills with tasks including emails, reports, situation analysis and precise writing. This section is of total 50 marks and candidates have to complete it in 30 minutes. Notably, there has been a significant change in the structure of the descriptive paper this year, which now requires candidates to demonstrate their writing and analytical abilities within a shorter period of time, making it easier for candidates to thoroughly prepare for this section.
